Devon Open Studios 2025: Abstract Paintings, Poetry and Workshops

This year’s Devon Open Studios 2025 marks a shift in my practice — from symbolic still-life forms towards something quieter, more abstract and felt. I’ll be showing work from my Sitting With It and All That We Carry series — paintings that began with chairs, cups and tables as vessels of memory and connection, now gently unravelling into layered, intuitive abstraction.

Through ghost marks, sanded surfaces and fragments of handwriting, I explore what remains with us beneath the surface — the stories we carry even when words fall away.

Alongside finished work, I’ll have sketchbooks, experiments and works-in-progress on show, plus copies of my short poetry book Sitting With It — written as a companion piece exploring the same themes in words. I’ll also be running a handful of workshops during the event for those wanting to get hands-on.
