Back to England…and the south west

Welcome to our 3rd Blog Post...

Christmas 2022 we had a new addition to our family; Tetley, our house rabbit! He was sweet some of the time but a tad naughty the rest of the time.

We continued to see beautiful sunsets from the apartment, visited the countryside, and trips to Budapest.

In June we travelled back to the UK for a visit, and that included visiting family in Devon. We were made a great offer to come back to the UK and we had fallen in love with the sea. So, it all began again; packing, selling stuff and sending boxes back home full of my art stuff.

I think it was August that we travelled back and flew Budapest to Bristol. We had a hard and unsettled start to life back here.

Our great offer didn’t materialise, we shed tears and doubted our decision to come back, it felt like a huge mistake.

For New Year 22/23 we went North to visit family and friends. To be honest, we weren’t in a good place mentally or financially. We prayed with friends, Sue and Alex. We went back to Devon reluctantly but with hope that things would work out. Sue and Alex gave us financial help for me to get an art studio established down here. They felt that I would find an art community, I wasn’t so sure about this! However, after searching on Gumtree I found a studio - not an office to use as a studio, but an actual studio on a corridor of other studios!!! I was blown away!

It was here at Seale Hayne.

The day that Kev and I came to view the studio we also stopped for coffee in The Coffee Room - also conveniently on the same corridor! Whilst having coffee we met a guy who was the headmaster of a small independent school for kids that have suffered trauma, also based at Seale Hayne. He said for me to contact him and to meet up to discuss the possibility of providing art sessions for some of the kids. In one day I had a studio, found an art community and had the potential of some work!

Next…getting established, moving again and trying to be a barista!
